I have been reading a lot of blogs recently that state: “do you think the raise and extension in unemployment benefits will lead to more laziness in America?”

The answer is yes and no- let me explain before you rip my head off in the comments.

People are hurting for work. The need to support their families and financial obligations. But is unemployment the solution.

My answer is no! But does it help- yes! Should people be able to collect unemployment for a year or greater? Well I guess that depends on the individual you ask.

Should America reinvest in ways to create jobs versus having individuals rely on the meager salary of unemployment?

I want to know what everyones opinion is of this.

Does Unemployment pay out too much is certain states?

How bad is the job market?

I live in California and I was laid off from my last job in October. I started collecting unemployment and have been unemployed ever since.

Am I happy sitting around the house all day? Do I like living on $450/week when I was making $1000/week? Have I been looking for a job lately? Are there people out there that have it worse than me? Will I find a job soon?

These are some common questions that I ask myself? The fact of the matter is yes, I have been very fortunate to have been collecting unemployment and my expenses are low enough to survive. But I like to travel, I like to eat good food, I like to wear nice clothes. Yes, sounds cynical- but honest. So, do I like sitting on my ass all day collecting unemployment? No, I don’t.

Have I been looking for a job? Well does a bear shit in the woods?

I know how to find a job. I have a resume, cover letter, bio, references, work experience, education, charisma, a great head shot. I call people in my idusrty, I call people outside my industy, I use Yahoo jobs, I use Monster, I contact staffing agencies, I scourer craigslist. My results– 4 lousy interviews in the last two months.

Sure I have scam artists call me, I have mlm’s wanting me to join their reveloution, I have people wanting me to work on commission only. But come on- people aren’t really buying much these days are they. Whether I sell business to business or business to consumer- the market is bleek.

I don’t have any kids, I don’t have a house payment, I don’t even have much expenses besides some cc debt, a car payment, rent, food, gas, cell phone, gym, and a few others. I really don’t feel that bad for myself. I could live off of the land and take a backpack across the country just savaging.

What I feel bad for are those with families, small children to feed, the elderly, the ones that worked their asses off through school and now have debt and no way to pay it back. Yes I have compassion and I would like to help. That is why I have created this blog.

Let’s brainstorm what we can do to make money these days. Do you have any good ideas? Let’s plan a grass roots evolution here. Let this be a blog that uplifts the economy and gives hope to those who need it.

How about starting your own business? Do you know how to blog? Have you looked at ways to make money online? I am sure to my wits end and will gladly brainstrom with the other millions who are unemployeed and lookng for an alternative to the “Jack in the Box” job.
